The Waterford Five - Part 1

Writer's picture: IWAS MEDIAIWAS MEDIA

With coronavirus sticking around like a bottle of Laphroaig in the back of the cupboard we decided to soldier on with the presidential elections and the first online tasting under the new regime.

From big plans of a distillery day out and garden party to a smaller election tasting night in the Innes Bar the IWAS election plans were changing daily. Things were falling apart rapidly for the exiting president, unable to make decisions and a fractured leadership eventually resulted in a short zoom meet where President Fraser stood down and handed power to the un-opposed man of the people John Paul Rusk. Scott Frasers final act was to commission a memorial film commemorating how he single-handedly built the whisky club from the ground up, although many claims in the film are highly disputed.

In newly elected president Paul Rusk’s acceptance speech he hinted at big changes to the club’s structure, leadership and image. With many of former president Fraser’s loyalists still holding key positions within the committee some wondered how this would be possible given IWAS is protected by the sacred constitution. However, after a vote was cast on the 17th of September giving Rusk full emergency powers to make minor changes to the constitution he announced the formation of the Waterford Five issuing a cease and desist to the former corrupt committee. This minor change was welcomed by Pauls own brother Ian Rusk who later said in a statment that he intended to step down from his commitee role anyways due to his shamefull past having worked with Scott Fraser. However former president loyalist Greg Mugabi Shand was outraged, who via twitter demanded a re-count and threatened legal action against the new president elect.

With every IWAS member celebrating the formation of the Waterford Five (except the corrupt Greg Shand, standing alone, an outcast so to say) we were delighted to begin an online tasting with Waterford Distillery founder and whisky legend Mark Reynier.

A word from President Rusk

Friends, IWAS members , countrymen, lend me your ears;

I come to bury The former president , not to praise him.

The evil that men do lives after them;

The good is oft interred with their bones;

So let it be with Former noble president Scott Fraser. The noble Greg mugabe shand.

Hath told you President Fraser was ambitious:

If it were so, it was a grievous fault,

And grievously hath He answer’d it.

I however offer a new dawn for this mighty club of men who love the Inverness whisky appreciation society so much so they are willing to give there most prized bottle of haig club for it.

Onwards and upwards to the future and the three year reign.

PRESIDENT OF IWAS JOHN PAUL RUSK
